American Marble Makers: Identification Guides

Maker names are useful clues, not magic labels. Start with the glass in front of you, then use these company guides to compare construction, pattern and colour.

Quick reference

Construction first. Company name second.

Photograph both sides and both poles, note the seams, trace the colour through the glass, measure the diameter, then compare at least one plausible look-alike.

Myth / fact

“Each maker used unique colours.”

Glass colours overlap between companies and batches varied. Pattern mechanics, seams, provenance and several documented examples carry more weight.
