Marble Collector is a web and iPhone app for people who want a useful starting point when a small glass mystery turns up in a jar, a drawer or an inherited collection.
What Marble Collector does
Two photographs become a structured research record: likely maker and pattern, era, visible characteristics, condition, rarity assessment, alternative candidates and current comparable listings. Collectors can save those records, add notes and learn from finds shared by the community.
The product is designed to show its working. A useful result should explain why a candidate fits and leave room for uncertainty—not merely put a famous name beneath a photograph.
What it does not do
A photograph cannot reveal every manufacturing mark, repair or surface alteration. Marble Collector is not an authentication certificate, a formal appraisal or a guarantee of sale price. Important buying, selling, insurance and estate decisions deserve an experienced in-hand opinion.
